Rencontres Irlandaises de Tocane

A week dedicated to Irish traditional music, song and dance with Irish tutors, workshops, sessions and cultural events.

The Association Culturelle Irlandaise de Tocane (ACIT) promotes Irish culture in France through music, dance, language and cultural exchanges, and organises the annual Rencontres Irlandaises de Tocane festival.

Tradfest organised by the Centre Culturel Irlandais

The Association Irlandaise de Paris is a partner, we will host several events :

On Thursday 2 July, we will host at the Centre Culturel Irlandais (5, rue des Irlandais, Paris, 5th), a Seisiún Mór (big session) led by Irish musicians Zoë Conway (fiddle & vocals), John Mc Intyre (guitar), and Lily PrIce (tin whistle), in the beautiful CCI courtyard.

This big session will also be an opportunity to hear two short end-of-year demonstrations from our Irish singing and accordion classes.

Starting at 9 pm, entry is free and open to anyone, musician / dancer / singer of any level willing to take part. People just wanting to hear and enjoy an evening of Irish music are welcome. Drinks and food available on-site.

On Saturday 4 July, again in the Centre Culturel Irlandais, we will invite the public to come discover (and try themselves) two iconic instruments of traditional Irish music: the Bodhrán and the Uilleann pipes. with the help of our professional tutors on instruments lent by our Association. Here is the programme of the day

• 11am to 12pm: "Try the Bodhrán !" with our tutor Jean-Bernard Mondoloni: free (on pre-registration). No musical experience required. Families with children (+7 years) welcome.

• 12pm to 1pm : Bodhrán workshop for beginners with Jean-Bernard Mondoloni (10€) - (bring your own bodhrán if you have one).

• 2pm to 3pm : "Try the Uilleann pipes !" with our tutor Sébastien Bouchut : free (on pre-registration). No musical experience required. Families with children (+7 years) welcome.

• 4.30pm to 5pm : mini-recital of uilleann pipes (Sébastien Bouchut).

Many other events are planned for July 4th (classes, masterclasses, concerts, etc.), as well as on the other days of the TradFest, from July 1 to 5, featuring great Irish and international artists.

It’s a Book Event with a difference!

The Book: Thirty Years of Change Through Women’s Eyes: Ireland, 1993-2023

The Author: Íde B. O’Carroll, is an Irish-born researcher and author who has worked for many years on social change issues in Ireland, Europe and America. She has been affiliated with Women’s Studies, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland House, New York University, Public Policy and Sociology at University of Massachusetts-Amherst. She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA

The Interviewer: MarieAnn Mc Loughlin Dwyer, Co-Founder/Investor/Editor from Dublin. This conversation will provide us with fascinating insights into the extraordinary changes which have occurred for women in Ireland in the last 30 years. The diverse women featured had to struggle to find their place in a changing society. It tells us about the journeys these women took and the challenges they faced. This book is among Ireland’s most impactful feminist publications.

The submissions can be as Poetry (one page) or a short story (500-700 words) with Women and Immigration as the topic.

Irland’Oc

This year we are once again delighted to welcome two Irish dance teachers, Máira Mhic Aigáin and Mary Murphy, both professionals who are joining us from Ireland.

As part of our partnership with Comhaltas, we are delighted to welcome a trio of young Irish musicians, Trìréad, comprising Clare Anne Kearns on the violin, Sandra Walsh on the banjo and Mairéad Carey on the flute. Clare, a teacher, performer and winner of numerous awards, led our violin workshop in 2025.
