Celebrating America250
Ahead of America's semiquincentennial, the Embassy was proud to host a reception celebrating 250 years of shared history between Ireland and America and the 23 U.S. Presidents who descended from the island of Ireland.
On 4 July 2026, the United States of America will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence.
Ireland is proud to join the United States in marking this major historic anniversary, having signed a Memorandum of Understanding in September 2025.
As part of Ireland's America 250 programme, on 30 June 2026, the Embassy was proud to host a reception highlighting the remarkable Irish contribution, not only to the foundation of the US, but also to its political, economic, and social development over the past 250 years. The reception focused particularly on the 23 U.S. Presidents of Irish descent.
During the reception, hosted at the Residence of Ireland by Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason, guests had the opportunity to view EPIC's special 'Ireland and the Making of America' Exhibition, funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The evening featured a compelling performance by internationally-acclaimed Irish violinist Gregory Harrington, which reflected on the Irish-American journey.
