On Thursday 21 August 2025, the Embassy of Ireland in Abuja hosted nine Nigerian Ireland Fellows Programme awardees to a pre-departure celebratory evening before they embark on postgraduate studies in Higher Education Institutions in Ireland, starting from September 2025.

The drinks reception and dinner was also attended by partner organisations and previous Alumni of the Roger Casement Fellowship Programme.

In his remarks, Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, Peter Ryan recognised the commitment of the people of Ireland to education and the proud legacy of Irish people, particularly Roger Casement, in Nigeria. Three representatives of the Fellows addressed the attendees, thanking the Embassy of Ireland for the opportunity and expressing their optimism for their studies in Ireland.

The Embassy also celebrated the departure of two additional Fellows from Ghana, in Accra, on 26 August 2025.
