EU High Representative Kaja Kallas visits Embassy of Ireland, Abuja
The European Union High Representative HE Kaja Kallas visited Nigeria on Monday, 23 March, making her first bilateral visit to Sub-Saharan Africa.
During her time in Nigeria, she met with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, then Foreign Minister HE Yusuf Tuggar, the President of the ECOWAS Commission HE Alieu Omar Touray and chaired the EU-Nigerian Ministerial Dialogue.
HE Kallas also inaugurated the extension of the European Union Compound in Abuja where the new Embassies of Ireland and Belgium are located.
Deputy Head of Mission Ríon Magan McCall joined HE Kallas, European Union Ambassador Gautier Mignot and European Union Ambassadors for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, before welcoming HE Kallas to the Embassy where she met with youth representatives.
As expressed by Minister Chambers at the Official Opening of the new Embassy of Ireland, we are very grateful to Team Europe for their warm welcome and support for our move which literally places us at the heart of the European Union presence in Nigeria.
