An official website of the Government of Ireland. About ireland.ie

Ireland and Latvia, although on opposite sides of Europe, share a long history of interactions going back centuries.

With growing links in recent years, the Latvian resident Embassy opened in Dublin in 2003, the Irish resident Embassy first opened in Riga in 2005, and Latvia joined the European Union under Ireland’s Presidency in 2004.

We work together for peace and prosperity – through cooperation at the United Nations and at the Council of Europe – where rule of law and respect for human rights form the core of our shared vision for the world.
