EU fellowships and scholarships for students

EU career ambassadors are students that have been nominated by their University / Third Level Institute to provide information to fellow students and graduates on Job and Traineeship opportunities in the EU.

This EU wide programme is run by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO), the EU’s recruitment service. In Ireland, it is managed in close collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and with the assistance of the University’s / Third Level Institute’s Career Services.

The College of Europe accepts students who wish to study at postgraduate level at its Bruges (Belgium), Natolin (Warsaw, Poland) or Tirana (Albania) campuses.

Places at the College are open to Irish students studying politics, law, economics, European studies and other disciplines, and offer an excellent opportunity for graduates to develop their knowledge and skills in a truly international environment.

Since September 2021, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has provided six full scholarships, or part thereof, annually to Irish students who wish to study at the college.

All who apply from Ireland will automatically be considered for these Irish Government scholarships and do not need to submit a separate application for scholarship funding.

Irish applications to the College, both scholarship and non-scholarship, are reviewed by an independent National Selection Committee, with interviews usually taking place in spring of each year.

For graduates interested in pursuing a career in interpreting, the University of Galway, in conjunction with the EU Institutions, offer a MA/PDip in Conference Interpreting.

This programme trains students in the professional skills of conference interpreting, enabling them to avail of the employment opportunities for qualified interpreting professionals.

It is the only course of its kind in Ireland - a programme developed in conjunction with the institutions of the EU. Students will study the institutions of the EU, and the university organises a study visit to the European Parliament and Commission.

Irish, English, French, Spanish, Italian and German are offered on the programme to date.
