Data Management Experts (AST3) Competition

The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is recruiting Data Management experts to join the EU institutions as permanent Assistant (AST3) officials.

Applications are invited in three fields:

• Data processing, analytics and statistics
• Librarianship and information science
• Records and archives management

This competition is an opportunity for Irish professionals with relevant qualifications and experience to build an international career supporting the work of the European Union. Successful candidates may work on areas such as data analysis and visualisation, library and information services, records management, archives, and digital preservation.

To apply, candidates must be citizens of an EU Member State, have knowledge of two official EU languages, and meet the qualification and professional experience requirements for their chosen field. Candidates may apply for one field only.

The competition will establish reserve lists comprising 964 successful candidates across the three fields.

Applications close at 11am (Irish time) on 11 November 2026.

In line with the needs expressed by the EU institutions, EPSO is making preparations for the following competitions to be published in 2026:

• Lawyer-Linguists for the European Court of Justice (grade AD) - month and date to be confirmed
• Lawyer-Linguists for the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission (grade AD) - month and date to be confirmed

The following competitions will most likely be published in 2027 (month and date to be confirmed):

• Assistants for Parliamentary body (grade AST)
• Lawyers 4 fields (grade AD – Competition law, Financial law, Economic and monetary union law, Energy law)
• Lawyers 4 fields (grade AD – Artificial intelligence law, Criminal law, Procurement law, Litigation)
• International affairs specialists (grade AD)
• Translators (grade AD)
• ICT experts 3 fields (grade AST - IT Infrastructure, cloud and networks, Software development, User support)
• Nuclear inspectors (grade AST)

The Department of Foreign Affairs offers Irish candidates support at all stages of the EU recruitment process. To help candidates prepare for the preliminary tests, we provide training packs in partnership with EU Training.

The Department also arranges free information and training sessions to help Irish candidates prepare for EU competitions. These sessions are open to all Irish citizens who have registered for a specific competition, or those who intend to do so.
