The Embassy of Ireland in Sweden was delighted to participate in the Europe Day celebrations on 9 May.
The Embassy of Ireland in Sweden was delighted to participate in the Europe Day celebrations on 9 May. Organised by the European Commission in Sweden, the festivities took place in Stockholm’s Kungsträdgården with Embassies and cultural institutions from EU Member States and candidate countries showcasing their culture and cuisine.
Ireland had the pleasure of being the first of an exciting list of performances, with a fantastic medley of traditional Irish dances performed by the Saoirse Irish Dance Company. The programme featured traditional song and dance from participating countries, debates on the upcoming Swedish election, and discussions on key EU issues from EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall and MEPs.
The Embassy was glad to partner with Törst beverages and Sponge Cookies, offering guests a sample of these Stockholm-based, Irish-owned companies. The Stockholm Gaels gave a demonstration of Gaelic football and camogie. Thank you to everyone for stopping by.
