Taoiseach Micheál Martin shakes hands with Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk

Taoiseach Micheál Martin visited Warsaw on 31 March, to meet with his counterpart, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The leaders discussed the priorities for Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will take place in the second half of 2026. Both agreed on the importance of boosting Europe’s competitiveness, including by simplifying regulation. They also discussed the importance of cooperating closely to enhance Europe’s security.

The Taoiseach and Prime Minister Tusk also welcomed the strength of the Polish-Irish bilateral relationship, including our growing trade and investment, and the significant people to people links between our countries.
