Regionalisation and Promotion
Supporting national and international growth
The Government works in close collaboration with the enterprise agencies, IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, to promote Ireland and capture any opportunities that arise for inward investment. At the end of 2024 it was estimated that approximately 60,100 people are now directly employed in the international financial services sector, supported by the enterprise agencies.
Opportunities across Ireland
Today, approximately one in four jobs in the sector are outside of Dublin, providing high quality jobs across the country in locations such as Cork, Galway, Limerick, Kilkenny, Waterford and Letterkenny. Almost half of jobs in the funds and asset management sector are in regional locations.
Regionalisation of international financial services delivers clear benefits for both industry and regional labour markets. It deepens the talent pool and increases the range of opportunities available. The enterprise agencies support the growth of employment in regional areas as well as the number of exporting companies on a national level, which includes specific supports in regional areas.
To support Ireland's continued status as a global financial services hub, a pipeline of new and innovative businesses will be fostered. The agencies are targeting new investments into regional locations and supporting existing clients to sustain and grow their business in regional locations to maximise regional job retention and creation.

Ireland's regions and cities offer distinct advantages both to industry and regional labour markets.
If your business needs to be close to industry peers or research groups, you’ve come to the right place.
Over the years, Ireland has cultivated clusters of industry activity located across the country.
You can base your operations in Ireland’s heartlands or busy towns and cities – and still benefit from everything Ireland has to offer offer.
National and international engagement
As part of sustaining and growing the sector further, promotion of Ireland as an attractive location by both public and private bodies takes place at a range of national and international events. These will include a range of global events for St Patrick’s Day, which occurs every March, and attendance at many key industry events in Ireland and abroad such as Money 20/20, Insuretech Connect, and Fundforum.
