Oona Puffin
Hello, Oona!
Oona is a young Atlantic Puffin from Ireland and this year she is visiting Japan for Expo 2025. She’s looking forward to meeting you!
Oona lives on Puffin Rock island with Mama, Papa and her little brother Baba. They live at the Puffin Burrows, which are underground birds’ nests! Grown up puffins build burrows as a place to live and raise their young.
Oona is a very loyal friend and loves spending time and exploring with her friends. There is something new to find in nature every day on Puffin Rock. At Expo, she’ll help us share Ireland’s story – where creativity, nature and friendship connects us all.
Oona was created by Cartoon Saloon together with partner studio Dog Ears from Derry. She is the star of her own TV show and film, Puffin Rock, named after her home island.
Did you know?
A puffin’s beak changes colour during the year. In winter the colour is grey, but in spring it turns bright orange, just like mine!
