Ambassador Aidan Fitzpatrick Presents Credentials during Official Visit to Namibia

On 9 February 2026, Ambassador Aidan Fitzpatrick was honoured to present his credentials to H.E. Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the Republic of Namibia, at State House, officially taking up his role as non-resident Ambassador of Ireland to Namibia.

This formal ceremony marked the commencement of his tenure and set the stage to strengthen the relationship and build on the long legacy of friendship between Namibia and Ireland.

During the visit, Ambassador Fitzpatrick met with the Minister of International Relations and Trade, Hon. Selma, Ashipala-Musavyi and the Chief of State Protocol, as well as attending the Presidential New Year Greetings at State House.

Accompanied by his wife, Niamh, and Embassy Second Secretary Sam Dowzard, the Ambassador's visit to Windhoek from 5th to the 11th February 2026 consisted of a programme of official engagements with Government representatives, partners and members of the Irish community.

The visit marked the official start of the Ambassador’s accreditation to Namibia and reaffirmed Ireland’s commitment to continued and increased engagement and cooperation.

The programme included engagements with the EU Ambassador to Namibia H.E. Ana Beatriz Martins; the United Nations Resident Coordinator Ms. Hopolang Phororo; the Executive Chairperson of the One Economy Foundation and former First Lady, Monica Geingos; and the Executive Director of the Institute of Public Policy Research, Graham Hopwood;

The Ambassador visited the Honorary Consulate of Ireland in Windhoek and met with Dr Patrick Murphy, Ireland's Honorary Consul to Namibia.

To celebrate Ambassador Fitzpatrick's presentation of credentials, Dr. Murphy hosted a reception for members of the Irish community in Namibia, Sean MacBride Fellowship alumni, the diplomatic community, and Embassy partners.
