Minister of State Richmond visits Washington, D.C. as part of Ireland's Diaspora Strategy U.S. launch

Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora Neale Richmond TD travelled to Washington, D.C. for a series of political and community engagements aimed at further strengthening Ireland’s close relationship with the United States.

Following of the U.S. launch of Ireland's new diaspora strategy in New York, Minister of State Richmond travelled to Washington, D.C. for a series of political and community engagements.

Minister of State Richmond kicked off the visit in the American capital on Wednesday, May 13th at the EU Delegation's Transatlantic Bridge Awards, which celebrated Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware), Governor Spencer Cox (R-Utah), Jillian Manus of SHIELD Capital, and vocalist and cultural ambassador Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Throughout the three-day visit, Minister of State Richmond met with various Members of Congress, Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy Sarah Rogers and Senior Bureau Official for Disaster and Humanitarian Response Ryan Shrum.

The Minister of State also hosted a diaspora roundtable at the Embassy, followed by an Irish community reception in his honour with guest remarks from Co-Chair of the Friends of Ireland Caucus, Representative Richard Neal (D-Massachusetts).

Minister of State Richmond also addressed the National Conference on Law Enforcement Emerald Societies and participated in a forum on international development issues at the Council on Foreign Relations.
