Consul General of Ireland in San Francisco

Marianne Bolger is currently the Consul General at the Consulate General in San Francisco with responsibility for the Western US States.

A career diplomat for 25 years, Marianne most recently served as Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan and Iraq from August 2022 to July 2026. Prior to this, Marianne was acting Director General of Human Resources at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Ireland (2021-2022) which included oversight of a number of strategic initiatives, including the introduction of a Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Action Plan 2022-2025.

Marianne has served overseas in Greece (2017-2019), Sweden (2013-2015) and Boston, USA (2004-2008).

Other headquarter roles include working on Human Resources, Consular Issues, planning for Ireland’s Presidency of the EU in 2013 and issues relating to Northern Ireland and the Western Balkans.

Marianne is married to Stephen McNally and they have three children.
