Consul General of Ireland in New York
Gerald Angley
Welcome Message
Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of Ireland in New York.
My name is Gerald Angley and I am honoured to be your Consul General, based here in NYC and with responsibility for the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Ohio. I lead a great team at the Consulate General, working closely with Ireland’s trade, investment and tourism agencies with whom we share offices in our new Ireland House at 200 Park Avenue in the centre of Manhattan.
I moved here from Ireland in late August 2025 for my fourth diplomatic posting after previous assignments at the European Union in Brussels, in Paris and most recently as Deputy Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Ireland’s diplomatic service in 1999, I worked in banking and insurance following completion of a business degree at University College Dublin.
It’s an enormous privilege to represent Ireland in what is easily one of the most Irish corners on this planet – a home from home that I plan to get to know very well indeed! I myself was born in Dublin to parents both from Munster, with my main roots in Tipperary and Cork. I also spend a lot of time in the West of Ireland.
I look forward to getting out and about and to having the opportunity to meet as many of you as possible during my term. I am delighted that you have taken the time to visit our website and hope that you find it useful. The website is a great source of information when applying for passports, visas and when trying to find out more about Ireland. If you have comments about our website or require further information on Ireland, please contact the Consulate.
And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter at @IrelandinNY or @CGNYIreland, as well as our Instagram, Linkedin and Facebook. You can also sign up for our Consulate newsletter here, and sign up here for our GreenLight Culture Bulletin, the go-to guide for Irish cultural news and events in the CGNY region, which I hope you will enjoy.
