With over 50 years of diplomatic relations, the ties between Ireland and Thailand – in trade, in education, and above all in people-to-people connections, have never been stronger.

A well-established Irish community thrives across Thailand, centred around the Thailand GAA Club, the Irish Thai Chamber of Commerce, the St Patrick’s Society and the Irish Women’s Group.

Growing links

Ireland and Thailand enjoy a strong and growing trade relationship, and Thailand is a very popular destination for Irish holidaymakers. Ireland is a member of the European Union, which is one of Thailand’s most important economic partners.

Education is an important shared priority, and several of Ireland’s leading Universities have strong and growing exchange and collaboration programmes with their Thai counterparts. Thai alumni and graduates of Irish Universities are playing an increasingly active and important role in the bilateral relationship.

The Thai community in Ireland is also growing and increasingly active in promoting cultural exchanges. The Thai-Ireland Association, established by the Thai community in Ireland, provides language and community support and coordinate social activities.
