Ireland's Strategy for Mozambique
Delivering for Ireland in Mozambique
Covering the period 2025-2030, Ireland's strategy for Mozambique outlines the ambition for and relations with Mozambique and two countries of accreditation – Eswatini and Madagascar.
Ireland seeks to advance our foreign policy in Mozambique and accredited countries as part of the ambitious agenda of ‘A Global Ireland: Ireland’s Global Footprint to 2025’ and Ireland’s ‘Strategy for Africa’, which set out a global and African engagement that is rooted in the fundamental principles of justice, human rights, and the rule of international law.
Ireland will maintain and strengthen bilateral relations and will work with the European Union to support improvements in Human Rights and seek to identify new people-to-people connections and opportunities to develop trade linkages.
- Political engagement with Mozambique, Eswatini and Madagascar will be strengthened, with a focus on deepening bilateral relationships, promoting peace and stability, climate action, human rights and effective European Union (EU) and United Nations partnerships.
- The Embassy will provide high quality consular services, and promote cultural, trade, and people-to-people linkages between Ireland, Mozambique, and secondary accreditations.
- Ireland will support marginalised women and youth in Mozambique and work on improving access to basic services including quality health and education, sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and prevention of gender based violence.
- Ireland will support good governance, human rights and peacebuilding, which will contribute to stability and social cohesion in Mozambique.
- Working with Mozambican institutions and vulnerable communities to increase capacity to anticipate and adapt to shocks and have access to timely support in the face of humanitarian crises.
- Ireland will work to support marginalised women and youth through climate resilient, sustainable food systems and livelihoods.
