An official website of the Government of Ireland. About ireland.ie

As two island nations located on either of the European Union, Ireland and Malta share historical experiences, ancient cultural heritages, and common values as fellow members of the European Union and the United Nations.

Cooperation between our countries is deep and multi-layered. Our shared value of neutrality, accompanied by our unwavering solidarity and quest for justice, allows us to make use of our place in the international arena to protect those who do not share the same privilege.

Our modern and dynamic relationship is also expressed in the flourishing links between our higher education sectors as well as the increase in cultural links between our two countries.

Thriving connections

The connections between our people are thriving. With direct air connections to three airports on the island of Ireland, there are increased opportunities to develop our connections even further.

In the same way, trade links between Malta and Ireland are also growing, both in goods and in the services sector.
