Ambassador of Ireland to Malawi
Kate Brady
Welcome message
Dia dhaoibh go léir. Fáilte go hAmbasáid na hÉireann!
Takulandirani ndi manja awiri!
I am delighted to welcome you to the website of the Embassy of Ireland in Malawi. Here you will find interesting news updates on the work of the Embassy, clear guidance on consular services and a better understanding of Ireland’s engagement in Malawi.
I have had the honour of serving as Ireland’s Ambassador to the Republic of Malawi since October 2024 and I lead a team that is committed to deepening the good relationship between our two countries and serving our people here.
Ireland has had a resident Embassy in Malawi since 2007, but the connections between our countries go back many years. Irish people, including missionaries, have long been involved in health, education, governance and business in Malawi.
Building on these good foundations, our relationship today is based on mutual respect, partnership and openness. We work with government, with EU partners, with the UN family and with NGOs and INGOs to support shared priorities in food systems transformation, social protection and resilience, good governance, empowerment of young women and gender equality, and climate action.
Our priorities and ambitions for our work in Malawi are laid out in Global Ireland: Ireland in Malawi 2021-2026.
We often arrange social and cultural events for the Irish community and friends right across the country. If you would like to be added to our database to attend these events, please contact us. You can also find updates on our Twitter account, and Facebook page.
