Discovering Ireland 2026
The annual Discovering Ireland festival was held at the Embassy of Ireland in Beijing on 4th and 5th July 2026.
Over the course of the 4th and 5th July, the Embassy of Ireland opened it’s doors to more than 3,500 members of the public for the annual Discovering Ireland Festival. The Embassy grounds played host to 20 Irish exhibitors, showcasing Irish food, drinks, educational offerings and innovation. The festival kicked off with a performance by children from the Astral Iris Choir, who gave a choral rendition of "When You Are Old", adapted from the poem by the renowned Irish poet William Butler Yeats.
Throughout the day, guests were treated to performances by the New Rhythm Irish Dance Company and the Irish Heart Dance Troupe, as well as to poetry recitals by our enthusiastic volunteer poets, sporting activities, film screenings and face painting.
In addition, the Embassy was delighted to be joined by musicians from across China for an seisuin ceoil, a traditional music session, where members of the public were invited to join in. From seasoned musicians to first time players, the session brought together musicians and dancers from Irish and Chinese backgrounds alike.
Beijing GAA and Pine Valley Golf Academy took over the Embassy’s mini Croke Park, where guests were invited to try their hand at hurling, Gaelic football and golf.
