Beyond the grave

A passage tomb, shown from the side of entry.

An ancient passage tomb cemetery, Carrowkeel Megalithic Site in County Sligo contains 14 cairns, all built between 3200 and 2400 BC.

Constructed from well-trimmed slabs of limestone, the passage cairns are spread across the hilltops of the Bricklieve Mountains, and are some of the best examples of Irish Neolithic monuments.
