Ambassador of Ireland to Morocco

Helena Nolan

Welcome message

Dear Friends, A Chairde,

On behalf of the team at the Embassy of Ireland in Rabat, a warm welcome to our website. Cead Mile Failte. Bienvenue. مرحبا بكم , ⴰⵏⵙⵓⴼ ⵢⵉⵙⵯⵡⴻⵏ

Here you will find information about the bilateral relationship between Ireland and Morocco and about the services provided by the Embassy.

It is my great honour and privilege to be Ireland’s Ambassador to Morocco—as well as concurrently to Mauritania and Tunisia—and the first Irish woman to hold this role. This is a new embassy, which opened in 2021, and we moved into our beautiful new embassy premises in March 2025, just in time for Patrick’s Day.

My team and I are delighted to live in this wonderful city of Rabat and to work closely with our Moroccan hosts, and with all of you, our community and stakeholders, and all those with an affinity for Ireland, to maximise the potential of our diplomatic presence here.

I am joined here by my husband, Sami, and our two adult sons are looking forward to visiting from Ireland. It’s great to see so many direct flights to so many locations in Morocco now, with Ryanair and Aer Lingus.

While here, we look forward to exploring Rabat and all of the major cities, and further parts of this beautiful and fascinating country as we continue to build up the already thriving business, political, educational and cultural links across Morocco.

Ireland is fully committed to further deepening our relations with Morocco and to serving the needs of our Irish citizens here.

I already see so many connections between our two peoples and also see much untapped potential in our working together and sharing experiences. Morocco is a vibrant, dynamic and innovative country and there is great potential here for Ireland. Cultural diplomacy is also a key part of our role here, and I look forward to sharing many cultural events and exchanges.

We support the community of Irish citizens who are resident here, or who may be travelling in Morocco, as well as Irish people, businesses, public bodies and educational and cultural institutions engaged in activities in Morocco.

The Embassy works closely with Team Ireland and we facilitate and support visits to Morocco from the Irish State Agencies, including most recently Enterprise Ireland in July 2025.

We look forward to building our network with Irish companies doing business with Morocco and Moroccan companies investing – or seeking to invest – in Ireland. A new Guide prepared by Enterprise Ireland on Doing Business in Morocco issued in September 2025.

Visit exchanges and communication between our two administrations are vital in furthering our political relationship, as well as in trade and investment, food and agriculture, in education, research and culture.

I also look forward to broadening our knowledge of, and connections with, Mauritania and Tunisia.

Most importantly, we are very keen to get to know and keep in touch with the Irish community in Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia, and with friends of Ireland across the region. We encourage all of our diaspora, of Irish heritage, and affinity, to engage with us and with the development of our next diaspora strategy.

The embassy team wants to provide the best possible service to our citizens and to the Irish community in Morocco, so please do let us know if you think we can improve in any of the areas in which we work.

We value your feedback and will use it to enhance the services we offer.
