In Mozambique, Cyclone Freddy was the longest-lasting tropical cyclone on record, with significant consequences for children’s education.

Today, more than 270 million children around the world are out of school. Ireland's contribution to the Global Partnership for Education will help partner countries to improve learning outcomes, strengthen accountability and ensure that education systems are more inclusive and resilient.

Minister Richmond said:

At a time when progress towards universal education remains under pressure, Ireland is pleased to continue its partnership with the Global Partnership for Education. Our pledge reflects Ireland's enduring commitment to global education and our determination to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and realise their potential.
