Lives of Mission, Lives of Hope
A short film by Colm Flynn. Specially commissioned by the Embassy of Ireland to the Holy See
In some of the world’s most challenging environments, countless schools, medical facilities and rehabilitation centres exist today thanks to the work of Irish Sisters.
These are often in areas where other government actors and NGOs have been forced to leave. Many of these stories have never been told.
Through the voices of Sr. Collette Keane O.P., Sr. Julie Buckley SMR, Sr. Pat Murray CJ and Sr. Mary Barron OLA, we hear first-hand about their lives and work – from the early years in Ireland to their vocations to the religious life, and their work both in Ireland and overseas. These women have been, and continue to be, exceptional unofficial Ambassadors for Ireland, truly global citizens in some of the world’s most difficult places.
