The photos entries will be judged by staff from each of our Consulates with support from Tourism Ireland. There will be prizes for one winner from each of Scotland, Wales and the North of England, with the overall winning entry displayed on our social media.

To take part in this competition, simply upload your favourite Samhain/Halloween themed photo(s). This could be anything from a photo showcasing your pumpkin (or turnip!) carving skills, to your favourite Halloween costume, or an atmospheric Irish landscape that reminds you of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. We are particularly interested to see any photos you might have of Halloween celebrations in Ireland!

Ireland proudly celebrates Samhain, which the ancient Celts created over 2,000 years ago to mark the end of the harvest season and the start of winter. Many of the practices that began during Samhain have lasted the test of time and become our modern Halloween traditions, including trick-or-treating, large communal bonfires and pumpkin carving. For more information about Samhain celebrations in Ireland, please visit Ireland.ie/Halloween .

Send your full name, photo location, contact details and name of your nearest Consulate to celticcompetitions@dfa.ie so we can contact you in relation to the competition and use of your photo.
