Document Authentications – Appeals Procedure

Review at public counters

If a decision is taken not to authenticate/apostille a document at our public counters in Dublin or Cork, an immediate review of the decision can be requested to be carried out by the supervisor on duty.

Appeals

If the person remains dissatisfied with the decision, an appeal can be made in writing, together with a full copy of the document to: Authentications Appeals Officer, Consular Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Iveagh House, 80 St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2, D02 VY53.

Alternatively, the person can email the Appeals Officer directly: authenticationappealsdublin@dfa.ie

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of our complaints and appeal procedure, you can refer the matter to the Ombudsman by clicking on the ‘Make A Complaint’ link at ombudsman.ie.

Ombudsman for Children

You should contact the Ombudsman for Children (oco.ie) if your complaint concerns a service provided to a child (under 18).
