Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of Ireland in Vancouver.

The Consulate was established in 2018 and represents Ireland in Western Canada covering the Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta and the Territories of Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

The Consulate General of Ireland works to support and promote Irish community interests in Western Canada by:

• Providing high quality consular services and support for the Irish diaspora
• Promoting a greater awareness of Ireland, our arts and culture in Western Canada
• Facilitating the promotion of Ireland’s economic interests through our support of the Irish state agencies
• Further strengthening the strong bilateral relations between Canada and Ireland.

We also work closely with our colleagues in Embassy Ottawa, the Consulate General in Toronto, our network of Honorary Consuls and the Irish State Agencies working in Canada.

Gerry Kelly

Ard-Chonsal/Consul General

Gerry Kelly was appointed as Ireland’s Consul General to Western Canada in August 2026.

Gerry has previously represented Ireland as Consul General in Mumbai and as Deputy Ambassador in Russia, India and Iran. He has also served in other diplomatic roles at Ireland’s Embassies in London and Washington and at Ireland’s Mission to the United Nations in New York as well as at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin.

Gerry comes from County Roscommon and is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and the Institute of Public Administration in Ireland. He is accompanied on posting by his wife Melissa and two of their four children.

From Vancouver, Gerry and the Consulate team work to promote Ireland and Irish culture, heritage and economic interests in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories, to provide services to Irish citizens in the region, and to further strengthen the links between Ireland and Western Canada.
