Application form:

• Complete the online application form
• This will generate an application summary form and declaration at the end, which you must print, sign and date.

What supporting documents do I need?

Supporting documents depend on your reason for travelling. Find out more on our visa documentation page.

• Gather your supporting documentation, passport photograph and fee (if applicable).
• Submit your application.

To complete the process, you must submit your passport and supporting documents for processing. Where you submit your application and documentation, depends on where you are living. The summary application form will direct you to the relevant Embassy, Consulate or Visa Application Centre.

The new Embassy of Ireland, Sarajevo is operating from offices, where it is NOT possible for applicants to deposit applications or collect documents (in person)

All passports and original documents should be sent to, and will be returned by the Embassy to applicants, by courier/post.

Applicants should contact a postal/courier service in their town and arrange for collection at their expense or enclose

Some applicants are required to pay a visa application fee, while others are exempt.

The following nationalities do not pay a visa fee (but you are required to pay postage fees – see below):

• Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Kosovo
• Montenegro
• North Macedonia
• Serbia

• A Transit visa costs €25

The Embassy does NOT accept cash payments under any circumstances and will not be responsible for cash sent in the post.

The Embassy does NOT accept payment by credit or debit card.

Once a visa application is lodged for processing, the processing fee cannot be refunded.

Sarajevo

• For Bosnian passport-holders applying for visit/tourist, business/conference or employment visas, we recommend that you apply for a visa at the earliest opportunity, but at least 4 weeks in advance of planned travel.
• Bosnian passport holders applying for study visas should apply at least eight weeks before planned travel.
• Bosnian passport holders planning to Join Family, please note that applications are forwarded to Ireland for decision and documents are queued as received.

Decisions

If you applied at an Embassy or Consulate, they will contact you once a decision on the visa application has been made.

If you applied directly to an Irish Immigration Service Visa Office or if your application was referred to the Irish Immigration Service in Dublin for a decision, you can check the Irish Immigration Service Visa Decision Weekly Listing using your reference number.
