Welcome and thank you for taking time to visit the website of the new Embassy of Ireland in Sarajevo.

The new Irish Embassy is currently being established, and we thank you for your patience as we gradually expand more services to citizens and features on this website over the coming months.

I am greatly honoured to serve as Ireland’s first resident Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. As the Embassy is being established, I look forward to deepening and strengthening relations between Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly at a person-to-person level, to serving Irish citizens and promoting Ireland’s values across Bosnian and Herzegovina.

Adrian Farrell, Ambassador

For more than two decades Adrian Farrell has worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and at the Department of the Taoiseach (Office of the Irish Prime Minister), in a variety of roles.

He has served abroad in posts including Türkiye, Germany, the USA and Slovenia.

He became non-resident Ambassador of Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 2022. He moved to Sarajevo in August 2025 as Ireland’s first resident Ambassador to Bosnia Herzegovina.
