Irish beef and lamb: a celebration of home comforts in Belgium
There is a huge appetite for Irish beef and lamb in Belgium, one of the culinary capitals of Europe. Belgium is Ireland's second largest market for both organic beef and lamb, showing a huge appetite for our meat produce.
Almost two thirds of EU certified organic beef from Ireland is destined for export markets, while half of EU certified organic lamb from Ireland is currently sold overseas. Belgians have a particularly strong affinity for Irish meats, so Belgium is the final destination for a significant portion of those exports.
Irish beef and lamb are both renowned Irish products, not least because of the quality of the meat. Much of our exports are in organic pasture raised beef and lamb, that is EU Certified Organic. Sustainable and seasonal farming is at the core of Irish practices, and the beef and lamb sectors have played an important role in the movement towards a more green future for farming in Ireland.
